Marketing has fascinated me since I was in high school with the variety it entails from research and production to sales and design. My mother was an artist for an advertising agency and my father was in sales – so I guess you could say it runs in the family. I have enjoyed carving out my niche in an ever evolving discipline.
My marketing career started when I worked for a professional sports organisation where event promotion became second nature. I then worked for 3M Company, a large global corporation, where I acquired expertise in branding, organising product launches, writing marketing plans and leading creative teams.
Just before my new role as a mother, I created Avitus Marketing. We trained non-profits and small business owners, with a limited budget, how to successfully promote their products and services. Clients were educated in the principles of marketing and empowered to run their own successful campaign.
Over time, I noticed the writing part of marketing was what I loved the most. I now focus on copywriting – websites and press releases to blogs and annual reports for businesses and non profit organisations.
My role as a copywriter is to help businesses speak to their customers using the right words to create a desired emotion. I develop copy that creates a stronger relationship with the audience and converts readers into customers.
