Back to basics: Touch grass(roots)🌱

Events across Minneapolis and St. Paul over the past few months have me thinking about action vs planning.Â
Community efforts that never existed before popped up overnight.
People powered by grassroots efforts led the way – not a perfectly curated newsletter or planned social media campaign. It was raw, low-budget and unpolished yet effective.
When you think about it, every solopreneur and small business owner practices grassroots marketing naturally.
But somewhere in the journey, we get tied up in the planning, perfecting, and refining trap and get paralyzed by the process.
These recent community efforts, from collecting food donations in a suburban garage to school bus guardians to more involved efforts involving thousands of people, have something in common...
Nobody had a 5-year plan
Nobody completed a feasibility study
Nobody tested before launching
What they did do...
They started
They made one move that led to the next move
They adapted along the way
They didn’t give up
There’s a message in this for all of us. What if we just did the thing and stopped overthinking?
Easier said than done, I know. But is it?
